Director George Tillman Jr Signs With Kaplan/Perrone

EXCLUSIVE: Filmmaker George Tillman Jr has signed with Kaplan/Perrone for management.  Tillman’s feature directing credits include The Hate U Give, Men of Honor, Notorious, Faster and Soul Food. Tilman is currently percolating The Prince of New York, based on the New York Times article and bestselling book My Name isTani. It tells the remarkable true story of a young Nigerian boy’s journey from refugee to chess champion.  The script was adapted by Steve Conrad and Michael Starrbury.

With longtime State Street partner Bob Teitel, Tillman Jr also produced Bob Marley: One Love and Barbershop, and they were executive producers on the Dee Rees-directed Mudbound.  In addition to directing features, Tillman has directed television projects including ABC’s For Life,  Starz’ Power, Netflix/Marvel’s Luke Cage, NBC’s This Is Us, and Disney’s Emmy winning show The Crossover.  State Street currently has an overall feature deal with Paramount.
