It's been more than a year-and-a-half since Yellowjackets aired its Season 2 finale, so if you have absolutely no recollection of how the season ended, including the specifics of Natalie (Juliette Lewis)'s tragic death, you'd be forgiven. How did she die? Who killed her? The mind can only hold so much information!
With the third season of series premiering on Feb. 14, let's review where the show left off.
How did Season 2 of Yellowjackets end? A recap ahead of Season 3
What happened to Javi?
After Javi (Luciano Leroux) ran way in Season 1, most of the Yellowjackets—save for his brother, Travis (Kevin Alves), and Lottie (Courtney Eaton)—assumed he was dead. But he wasn't. He showed up in Season 2 alive and well—only to be killed off in Episode 8.
He died in a rather tragic fashion, too, trying to save Nat (Sophie Thatcher) from death herself, as she was being ritualistically hunted by the starving Yellowjackets as a "sacrifice" to the wilderness. After he fell through the ice in a frozen river, the girls let him freeze to death rather than rescue him. "The wilderness chose," Nat said. The group then eats him, marking their foray into cannibalism, and Travis takes the first bite—out of his dead brother's heart.
Who became the new Antler Queen?
Lottie, convinced that Nat was the wilderness' "favorite," suggests that Nat be their new queen. That means the person we saw in the opening cannibalism scene of Yellowjackets Season 1 is possibly Natalie, and definitely not Lottie.

How did present-day Nat die?
The adult Yellowjackets, while congregated at Lottie (Simone Kessell)'s compound, once again drew cards to see who the wilderness "wanted," and Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) drew the short one. She was saved by her daughter, Callie (Sarah Desjardins), whose arrival snapped the Yellowjackets out of their ritual mindset. But the situation went off the rails when Natalie (Juliette Lewis) pulled out a knife and Lisa (Nicole Maines), who Nat befriended at the compound, drew a gun. Misty (Christina Ricci) moved to inject Lisa with phenobarbital, but Nat intervened and took the lethal jab instead. Her death was billed an overdose. Meantime, Lottie was carted off to a mental hospital.

What happened with the police investigation into Adam's death?
It seemed like Shauna, Misty, Taissa (Tawny Cypress) and Natalie were going to get caught for killing Adam (Peter Gadiot), but Misty's new fanboy/beau, Walter (Elijah Wood), made the problem go away by putting phenobarbital in Detective Kevyn Tan (Alex Wyndham)'s hot chocolate, then blackmailing his partner into framing Kevyn for Adam's murder as well and journalist Jessica Roberts' (Rekha Sharma).
Who burned down the cabin?
After finding the tunnel where Javi stayed while he was missing, Coach Ben (Steven Krueger) returned to the group and discovered them butchering Javi and preparing to eat him.
Horrified, he tried to convince Natalie to join him in the tunnel, but she refused. Realizing that none of the girls were redeemable, he burned down the cabin—the Yellowjackets's home for most of their time in the wilderness.
