The truth behind Bachelor Matt and Elly's pre-show 'romance'

She’s one of the favourites tipped to win this season of The Bachelor Australia, but word is that 24-year-old Elly Miles may have had an unfair advantage over her fellow bachelorettes.

Whispers began on Monday that the registered nurse from Parkes, NSW, was in a relationship with Bachelor Matt Agnew, 32, before the show even began.

An on-set source spilled the beans on Matt and Elly’s romantic history to New Idea, saying that it was an open secret that caused “a lot of tension in the house”.

The mole in the mansion added that the bubbly blonde was confronted by the other women but “denied the rumours”.

“Everyone knew it had happened and started to despise her for having an unfair advantage. The whole thing really upset her,” they went on.

But it appears that Elly earned the coveted ‘Golden Ticket’ in episode one - which saw her escape with Matt to his hometown of Melbourne - all of her own accord, after a Network 10 spokesperson poured cold water over the claims.

“This story is completely false. Matt and Elly did not know each other prior to filming The Bachelor, ” they said in a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle.

Even though they hadn’t met before, it looks like the pair have a pretty strong connection especially in light of the recent spoiler pics of the apparent top five girls.
