The couple, who got married in November 2007 in Santa Barbara, share a 12-year-old son, Leo. Ford has requested joint legal and physical custody of him.
She also requested spousal support from the 45-year-old Superman Returns star.
The longtime couple rarely posted on social media about their relationship or their family. Ford's last post of Routh was on Father's Day in 2023, as he posed with their son.
Meanwhile, his most recent post for her was from Mother's Day the same year.
"She’s a ride-or-die friend, and a mom who’s all in," he wrote of Ford. "I’m so grateful that Leo has @courtneyfordhere, who jumps feet first into living, giving him permission and unconditional love to be fully himself. ❤️🙏🏻🙌🏼."
