Dessert boxes are bringing a little sweetness to those of us missing out on face-to-face celebrations while in lockdown.
While countless birthday parties, baby showers and weddings are being cancelled due to stay at home orders in Sydney, Victoria and South Australia, a growing number of Aussies are showing they care by sending gift boxes and hampers filled with sweet treats.
If you haven’t already come across them on your socials, they’re an edible take on sending flowers, with one dessert box company describing them as an opportunity to “grab a fork and eat your feelings away.”
They’re a delicious way of showing your nearest and dearest that you’re thinking of them at a time when you can’t be near, and if you have a special occasion to celebrate, there are even birthday-themed dessert boxes, newborn baby dessert boxes and romantic dessert boxes.

For something extra special, Melbourne-based Cookies and Crumbs will personalise the cookies in your dessert box to say whatever you like, while you can have a laugh with cheeky Sydney-based brand Dessert Boxes, which has a penis-shaped chocolate box and one with a middle finger made out of donut.
Whatever the occasion, donuts seem to be the most popular choice at the moment, followed closely by brownies, but you can also get dessert boxes with cookies or cupcakes or just chocolates and assorted confectionery. Unfortunately, if you live outside of a major city, the latter may be your best choice as some companies won’t deliver fresh baked goods outside of metro areas.
