Demi Moore, whose performance in Coralie Fargeat’s “The Substance” as been praised as Oscar-worthy, will receive a career tribute at the French Cinematheque in Paris on Nov. 5, ahead of the movie’s local release.

The day-long retrospective and tribute are being co-hosted by Mubi, the global arthouse distributor and streamer which has successfully released the bold and bloody movie in the U.S., the U.K., Latin America, German and most other international territories, as well as Metropolitan which handles the French theatrical release, and the French Cinematheque.

The feminist body-horror movie stars Moore as Elisabeth Sparkle, a recently fired daytime-TV who uses a black market drug that creates a younger version of herself, with dangerous side effects.

Underscoring Mubi’s big theatrical push, the movie already ranks as an indie hit, having grossed $53.6 million worldwide since its Sept. 20 release, including $14.5 million in North America. It’s Mubi’s biggest B.O. success to date.

Bolstered by Moore’s career-topping performance, “The Substance” is one of France’s most anticipated releases for the fourth quarter. Moore, who is beloved in France, spent several months in the French capital where the Los Angeles-set movie was shot, along with some exterior scenes in the South of France.

Since world premiering in competition at the Cannes Film Festival where it won best screenplay, “The Substance” has garnered solid word-of-mouth and some Oscar buzz for Moore who could land her first best actress nomination. Besides the best actress category, Mubi is also campaigning for the movie in major categories, including best director, original screenplay, as well as visual effects, hair and makeup.

As part of the French Cinematheque retrospective, Ridley Scott’s “GI Jane” and Jerry Zucker’s “Ghost” will screen, while Moore will deliver a masterclass. The day will end with an hommage to Moore and the French premiere of “The Substance” presented by both Fargeat and Moore.

Moore recently starred in the second season of “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans,” and will next be seen in Paramount+’s upcoming drama “Landman” from Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, in which she stars alongside Jon Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton. Moore is also set to star in Boots Riley’s “I Love Boosters” alongside Keke Palmer, LaKeith Stanfield and Naomi Ack.
