Delta Goodrem breaks down over ONJ's cancer battle

Delta Goodrem has broken down in tears as she discussed her friend Olivia Newton-John’s cancer battle.

The singer can be seen sobbing in a trailer for the 69-year-old Grease star’s upcoming appearance on Sunday Night, where she’s set to give fans an update on her current health status as she fights breast cancer for the second time.

But clearly it all gets too much for Delta, who has been friends with the iconic Aussie star since she was going through her own cancer ordeal back in 2003, as she visibly becomes very emotional.

“Sorry, I find it so hard because it’s quite personal,” the 33-year-old tells the cameras.

But while a distressed Delta — who recently played Olivia in a biopic about her life — clearly struggles to open up about her friend’s health woes, it appears the woman herself is ready to talk.

Olivia — who lives in the US — can be seen revealing she “wasn’t sure if she’d make it” as the voiceover teases she’s about to make a very personal announcement.

It comes as fans aired their concern over her health when she cancelled a visit to Australia last month.

The actress, who is best known for her iconic role as Sandy, was due to speak at an ‘In Conversation’ event in Sydney and Melbourne in September but pulled out without explaining why.

Olivia, who turns 70 later this month, had a busy schedule planned for her trip, including her charity’s annual Wellness Walk.

She revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time at the start of 2017, describing it as incredibly “scary”.

“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t scary but I intend to be healthy,” she told 60 Minutes in September last year, adding it was especially tough for her daughter Chloe, 31.

Olivia was diagnosed initially in 1992 and underwent a partial mastectomy, chemotherapy and breast reconstruction.

The special episode starring the ‘Let’s Get Physical’ singer airs on September 9 at 8pm on Channel Seven.
