What does Black beauty mean to you?
I guess it's the foundation of everything. I learned what I liked through Black beauty. It's who I am, it's my identity.
What's your favourite beauty treatment?
My favourite beauty treatment is medical-grade skincare – but it's important to come off it when you don't need it! I'm on the Obagi treatment and I really enjoy it. The entire routine makes my skin feel clean.
And do you have any aesthetic treatment recs?
I prefer natural remedies to aesthetic treatments. I'm not opposed to chemical peels but I'd have to do more research on them.
What does your wash-day routine look like?
I used to use styling gels but now I use less of them. Instead, I use the Dyson hair dryer; it's cut hours out of my hair routine – your hair is done in minutes.
My friends always recommend the As I Am Leave-In Conditioner, so I want to try that next.

Do you have a go-to salon?
Myself! I don't really go to salons because I know what works best for my hair. I've been doing my own hair for a very long time, probably since I was about 10.
My mum taught me how to do my own hair and now I do my two younger sisters' hair, too. I did their wash days for them when they were younger – blow drying their hair, oiling their scalp.
Worst hair experience?
I've had many bad hair experiences. I think that's part of life.
When I was a kid, about eight years old, I thought I could cut my own fringe. I did it, forgetting that I have afro hair, so, when I let go it when up and not down – I was pretty pleased with it but my mum wasn't. There were a good two years where I had to go to school with a braid across the front of my head to blend the cut hair in. That's a memory that's ingrained in my head.
Skincare product you can’t live without?
There's a brand Korean brand called Mary & May and I love their Citrus Unshiu Fruit + Tremella Fuciformis Serum. It adds a glow to your skin.

What about body treatment?
I love a mango body scrub. Your skin smells so good afterwards using one.

What is your biggest beauty splurge?
My Obagi skincare treatment. But the splurge was definitely worth it.
What about your cheapest beauty obsession?
I get my lip liners from the high street. My favourite is NYX, thank you TikTok!

Any makeup mishaps?
Oh, of course. There was a point in my life when I thought I could do winged eyeliner... I have quite small eyes. Turns out that your eyebrow and the winged liner should not connect. I was 13, I was trying something, and my mum was very supportive, so I wore it out and I kept getting weird looks. But you live in you learn.
What would your makeup bag not be the same without?
My MAC Studio Fix concealer. I love it. It's the most reliable concealer I've had and stays all day. Or my clear Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer because it's winter now, it's freezing and I need it everywhere.
