Deborah Roberts says her husband Al Roker still manages to surprise her — even after nearly three decades together.

The 64-year-old journalist, who recently celebrated her 29th wedding anniversary with Roker, shared on the Sept. 27 episode of The View that she is still “discovering” things she didn’t know about the Today co-anchor, 70.

“I have to say, I’m not learning, learning about him, but I’m just discovering,” Roberts admitted. “Like, ‘You’re more stubborn than I ever realized.’ You know, I’m just like, I’m shocked.”

Another thing she said she’s still figuring out is how to “approach him” with criticism — especially since he tends to take it to heart.

“He hates criticism — most people don’t like criticism, but he’s very sensitive to critics,” the ABC News 20/20 co-anchor said. “So I have to say, ‘Honey, you know I love you, you’re so great. But would you please stop dropping your socks over here…’”

“You know, you gotta find a way to sort of back into it,” she added.

The View co-host Anna Navarro then asked if he was “onto it by now” when she started conversations with “I love you,” to which Roberts responded, “He starts rolling his eyes. He’s like, ‘I know what’s coming.’”

However, the same goes for Roker as well. The journalist noted that she had to inform him not to give her a furniture item as their 29th wedding anniversary gift — despite it being the traditional present.

“I said, ‘Do not give me a chair for [our anniversary]. I do not want a chair!,’ ” Roberts recalled.

Sara Haines then asked if he did end up getting her “any furniture,” to which she said, “No, I didn’t want any furniture. I didn’t even know it was furniture.”

Instead, she said her husband “went with jewelry,” adding, “So, he was alright.”

Roker paid tribute to their 29th marriage anniversary with a sentimental Instagram post on Monday, Sept. 16, which featured the couple recreating one of their memorable wedding poses. In the snap, Roker could be seen grinning widely as Roberts held out her left hand in an excited wave while also sporting a big smile.

“When you see you what I looked like 29 years ago, it’s even more amazing @debrobertsabc married me,” he joked in the caption. “Here’s to a woman who has questionable taste and even more questionable eyesight.”

Roberts, 63, responded in the comments section: “Stop that! Would do it all over again! ❤️”

In a separate Instagram tribute the following day, he acknowledged that their 29 years of marriage flew by "pretty fast” and described her as an “amazing wife, friend, mom, journalist and incredible #lifepartner” who made sure he “survived” his health “crisis” in 2022 when he was hospitalized for blood clots that moved from his leg to his lungs.

"Though I’m sure I give her pause to reconsider that from time to time," he jokingly added. "Thanks for not pulling the plug. I love you."
