Debbie Harry Doesn't Think a Relationship Is 'Possible' at Age 79. Why She's Still 'Curious' About Dating

The Blondie frontwoman also revealed she's never tried online dating: "I like chemistry between people"

Romance isn't completely off the table for Debbie Harry.

In a new interview with The Times, the Blondie frontwoman opened up about her love life and why she remains "curious" about dating at age 79.

Harry told the outlet she doesn't think it's "possible" for her to get into a relationship, though she also hasn't ventured into the modern world of dating online: "I haven't tried. I like chemistry between people."

"I had a friend who was an avid practitioner of online dating and she met a terrific guy," said the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member. "But I don’t know if I’m in the right position to be dating online."

The Times reporter Julia Llewellyn Smith encouraged Harry to try her hand at a celebrity-friendly dating app like Raya, and she agreed to give it a go. "And I’m going to get back in touch and let you know how it went," she said.

"I’m definitely not so adventurous as I was, but I’m still curious," said the "Call Me" performer. "I like the way the world spins."

Elsewhere in the interview, Harry joked about encountering "a really sexy" man during a recent shopping trip to Home Depot. "He was working in the garden department. But he was busy," she said.

The rock icon quipped, "Home Depot is where I do all my flirting. There are some big, strong men there."

Harry also got candid about her choice to not have children, telling the outlet she thinks she "would have been a terrible parent."

"Although, who knows? I salute anyone who raises a family, but it doesn’t bother me for some reason," said the "One Way or Another" singer. "I guess there’s some missing element in my chromosomes."

More than a half-century into her career, Harry not only remains busy but creatively stimulated. In November, she took to Instagram and told fans a new Blondie album is coming in 2025 — marking the band's first full-length release since 2017's Pollinator.
