Dave Coulier Defends John Stamos Over Bald Cap Photos, Calls Him a ‘Loving Brother’ Amid Cancer Battle
Dave Coulier has a message for everyone sending hate to his Full House co-star John Stamos: Cut. It. Out.
On Monday, Stamos posted several pictures to Instagram of himself wearing a bald cap, showing his support for Coulier, who recently went public with his own Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis. Coulier also posted the photos to his own Instagram account, where co-stars like Candace Cameron Bure and Andrea Barber chimed in with messages of support.

But because this is the internet, where everyone has something to say, there were also a handful of negative responses to Stamos’ show of support. One commenter called it a “shallow gesture,” implying that a true friend would have actually cut off his hair, rather than simply putting on a bald cap.
The negativity got so out of hand that Coulier on Tuesday felt compelled to defend his longtime friend on the very platform where he was receiving so much hate.
“I’m sorry to see a bunch of negative comments as l’ve just begun my cancer journey,” Coulier wrote on Tuesday. “It’s our friendship (me and John) and this is how we are handling a very tough time. I’m a comedian and humor is what drives me. John knows how to cheer me up and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap — being a true loving friend and brother.”
He continues: “I have heard from so many people who have been inspired enough by my words and actions to say that they are going to check in with their doctors and get mammograms, a colonoscopy or a prostate exam. I’m still going to laugh in the face of adversity. When I lost my sister, Sharon, my mother, Arlen, and my niece, Shannon to cancer, we tried to stay positive, and we made each other laugh through the worst of it. So, l’m choosing to spread the word about early cancer detection to help people. That’s just who I am.”
Coulier’s message concludes with the important sentiment of all: “I wish nothing but love for all of you.”
