Dairy Queen Fans Say Its 'Fire' New Dipped Cone Flavor Is 'An All Time Great'

As the leading mix-in soft serve creators in the business, Dairy Queen has quite the boastful portfolio under its belt. The popular fast food chain has made sweet treats its bread and butter, while also not letting its dedication to sweets get in the way of serving up incredible fried chicken, burgers and more.

In recent weeks, we’ve found ourselves obsessing over the latest and greatest to bless the famed Dairy Queen menu. With the return of the Mint Oreo Blizzard, there’s a lot to get excited about when visiting your local soft-serve aficionados. However, these offerings are no match for what Dairy Queen has in store, and we can thank @snackolator for securing us a sneak peek.

“Oh yes! Dairy Queen has a new dipped cone and it looks like an all time great,” @snackolator shared in a post to Instagram. “The Crunchin' Cookie Dipped Cone is rolling out nationwide right now and features cookies and cream pieces *in* the dip to give you an extra crunch with your cone.”

If there’s one thing that Dairy Queen excels at, it's their creation of variegates. DQ uses variegates to accomplish some of their most popular flavors. The Nutter Butter variegate, for example, is pumpable like a sauce and has very fine particulates mixed throughout that add flavor and textural complexity. Not all Blizzards use variegates, but some flavors require them as a workaround to putting actual large chunks of candy in the treat that would otherwise break your tooth when frozen.

While we aren’t sure if a variegate was used in the creation of the Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone, its mixed in cookies and cream pieces are certainly reminiscent of it. Dairy Queen is a pro at recreating the flavors consumers love, and while large chunks of Oreo cookies might not work well in a regular ice cream cone, tiny little cookie pieces will absolutely do the trick.

“IMMEDIATE yes,” one person wrote in response to @snackolator’s post. And when another asked why the new treat was blue, another commenter chimed in to offer some clarity. “It was originally the Cookie Monster dipped cone, so I'm guessing they just kept it that way.”

Those who are looking forward to trying the new Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone for themselves can actually do so now, as DQ has officially rolled out the new treat nationwide. “It might take a few weeks to get to your area, but I will absolutely be grabbing one of these,” @snackolator said. “They tested this flavor last year under the "Cookie Monster" name that I had posted about, but this appears to be [the same] cone with a name that won't get them taken to court!”
