Cynthia Erivo has her sights set on another high-flying role.

During an interview at the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City on Tuesday, Jan. 7, the Wicked actress was asked by the organization what "dream role" she wants to manifest.

"I really want to play Storm," Erivo, 38, said of the Marvel superhero first made famous on the big screen by Halle Berry, beginning with 2000's X-Men.

"I know it sounds frivolous, but I think we haven't uncovered how grand she is, and all of that inner turmoil she has," added Erivo. "So I think there's a world in which we could do something with that."

Storm is weather-controlling mutant who dates back to comics in the 1970s and was famously portrayed onscreen Berry, now 58. The Academy Award winner most recently donned the cape and pale-white wig in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past.

A younger version of character was later portrayed by Alexandra Shipp in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse and, most recently, 2019's Dark Phoenix.

In July 2020, Janelle Monáe expressed interest in the role of Storm during an interview with Empire magazine, revealing, "I definitely have thrown it out there."

"One of my dreams has always been to play Storm," said Monáe, 39, at the time. "I don’t know if she comes in Black Panther, but it would be a dream to have her in it. I don’t know where they are with that."

"A lot of women have played Storm and they’ve done an exceptional job," added Monáe, "and I would love to be in that line of artists and get to do Storm justice."

One of Erivo's Wicked costars, Ariana Grande, was also asked at Tuesday's gala by multiple outlets about a role she has perhaps seemed to be manifesting with her style as of late: Audrey Hepburn.

"Oh my goodness, why is everyone asking me this? You're insane!" joked the actress and pop star, 31, to Access Hollywood, when asked whether she'd ever be open to playing the icon in a biopic. "You're insane, you're insane, you're insane. You're insane. I love you."

The question came after the interviewer told Grande she was "channeling a little" of Hepburn in her recent event fashion, to which she replied, "I've always loved old-Hollywood glamour — like, Marilyn [Monroe] and Audrey have always been my references."

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Grande said about potentially playing Hepburn, "That would have to be done so well and so perfectly. ... I don't know," adding when the reporter insisted she had the chops to pull it off, "That's very kind."
