Yahoo Lifestyle Cynthia Erivo Favors a Sculptural Silhouette in Custom Louis Vuitton for the 2025 BAFTAs Red Carpet
Cynthia Erivo embraced lace at the 2025 BAFTA Awards in London on Sunday, where she modeled a three-dimensional look by Louis Vuitton. Her custom white frock featured a short train and a tea-length hemline.
The “Wicked” star accessorized with strappy round-toe heels, completing her look with emerald and diamond jewelry by Tiffany & Co., including rings, vintage earrings and a matching bracelet.

Stylist Jason Bolden, who also counts Nicole Kidman and Cara Delevingne as clients, dressed Erivo for the occasion.
At the Critics Choice Awards earlier this month, Erivo also favored a sculptural silhouette, wearing a look from Giorgio Armani Privé’s fall 2024 collection. Featuring a patent effect, her black gown was embellished with sequins and included a peplum waistline topped off with floral appliqués.
“Wicked” led the nominations at the 30th annual ceremony, picking up three awards, including Best Director for Jon M. Chu and Best Costume Design for Paul Tazewell. Erivo and her costar, Ariana Grande, were also up for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.
Speaking to WWD last fall, Tazewell discussed how natural elements informed the costumes in “Wicked.” The peppy, effervescent Glinda, who descends into Munchkinland via bubble, represents air. Elphaba, whose dresses feature fungus-inspired micropleats and embroidered fiddlehead ferns, is earth. Several of Erivo’s looks also include felting, which Tazewell said gave them an organic quality.
Spirals were another key motif. They can be found all throughout Oz, from the beginning of the yellow brick road to the tornado that sweeps Dorothy out of Kansas.
“I realized that I was attracted to images of kaleidoscopes and swirling staircases,” Tazewell explained. “This spiral imagery was something that was just pulling me in. I was looking at bisected shells, which reference the Fibonacci spiral, a formula that appears in nature.”
The Fibonacci spiral was used as the basis for the construction of Glinda’s silk organza “bubble dress.” Many of the character’s silhouettes also took inspiration from Christian Dior’s work in the 1950s, combining romanticism with classic couture structure.
