Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa Share First Photos as a Family of 3 with Royal Baby Iman

The heir to the throne thanked the medical personnel who cared for his wife and daughter in the heartfelt message

Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan are reveling in new baby bliss with their infant daughter, Princess Iman.

On Aug. 7, the heir to the Jordanian throne shared the first photos of the family of three. Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa, both 30, became first-time parents when their daughter was born at King Hussein Medical Center on Aug. 3.

"Heartfelt thanks to the dedicated personnel of the Royal Medical Services for their exceptional care over Rajwa and Iman during the past few days," Crown Prince Hussein wrote on Instagram in both English and Arabic.

The carousel opened with a photo of the royal couple standing and smiling together, as Crown Prince Hussein carried Princess Iman's carrier as she slept soundly inside. The picture appeared to be taken on the same day that they left the hospital, where Crown Prince Hussein's pro moves buckling Princess Iman's car seat into their vehicle and driving off mirrored Prince William's routine in 2013 when Prince George, now 11, was born.

The second shot showed Crown Prince Hussein proudly holding Princess Iman, snuggled up in a pink hat with a white and pink patterned blanket, while Princess Rajwa looked on with love.

Hussein and Rajwa tied the knot in a royal wedding on June 1, 2023, that drew an iconic royal guest list including the Prince and Princess of Wales. Ten months later, the Royal Hashemite Court announced that Princess Rajwa was pregnant and the Jordanian royal family expanded when Princess Iman was born on Aug. 3.

The little princess is the first grandchild for King Abdullah and Queen Rania, and she may have been named in honor of another family member. Baby Iman was given the same moniker as her aunt, Crown Prince Hussein's sister Princess Iman, who is 27. The Arabic name means "belief" and "faith."

Though a statement from the Royal Hashemite Court confirmed that newborn Iman received a royal title and HRH styling at birth, she does not automatically follow her father in the line of succession as is custom for the first child of the heir in some other modern monarchies. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's constitution dictates that the throne is hereditary to King Abdullah Ibn Al-Hussein's dynasty and passes through males. Crown Prince Hussein is followed by his 19-year-old brother, Prince Hashem, while their sisters Princess Iman and Princess Salma, 23, are not in the line of succession.

The Royal Hashemite Court and Queen Rania celebrated baby Iman's birth on social media, with the proud grandmother posting photos of her family's visit to the hospital to meet the little princess.

"Iman, you’ve already got a hold of my heart. Our family has never been happier!," the Queen of Jordan wrote on Instagram.

The montage showed Queen Rania, King Abdullah, Princess Iman, Princess Salma and Prince Hashem meeting the new baby for the first time, including a tender shot of Princess Iman holding her new niece.

The royal baby's birth continued an informal tradition, as all four of Queen Rania and King Abdullah's children were born at the King Hussein Medical Center.

In lieu of gifts upon their daughter's birth, Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa asked well-wishers to donate to the Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans.
