This Critically Acclaimed Comedy Is A Top Movie On Prime Video Right Now

“My Old Ass” is currently trending on Amazon Prime Video after joining the platform on Nov. 7.

The sci-fi comedy premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and had a limited theatrical release in September. Although critics praised the film, it grossed only $5.7 million at the box office globally ― but it’s reaching wider audiences and generating new buzz on the streaming service.

Written and directed by Megan Park, “My Old Ass” tells a coming of age tale of a teenage girl who meets her 39-year-old self and learns some unexpected lessons about love, family and growing up.

“Poolman”

The most popular movie on Hulu at the moment is “Poolman,” a comedy mystery starring and was directed, produced and co-written by Chris Pine.

Released in theaters in May, the movie follows a Los Angeles pool cleaner who gets wrapped up in a local mystery. “Poolman” also features Annette Bening, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Danny DeVito, DeWanda Wise, Stephen Tobolowsky and Clancy Brown.

“Meet Me Next Christmas”

“Meet Me Next Christmas” is the most popular film on Netflix right now and marks the streaming service’s first new holiday movie of the season.

Christina Milian stars as a New York City woman in search of a ticket to the sold-out Pentatonix Christmas Eve concert on the journey to find true love. The movie premiered on Nov. 6 and also features Devale Ellis, Kofi Siriboe, Tymika Tafari, Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying and Kirstin Maldonado.

“Elf”

Another Christmas movie is currently the top film on Max ― the 2003 holiday classic “Elf.”

Will Ferrell stars as Buddy, a human who grew up among Santa’s elves after a Christmas Eve mixup that occurred when he was a baby. After learning the truth about his roots, Buddy journeys to New York City to connect with his biological father.

“Cherry”

“Cherry” is among the movies trending on Apple TV+ at the moment. Based on a 2018 novel by Nico Walker, the crime drama follows the titular character (played by Tom Holland) as his life spirals into drugs and crime.

The movie was first released in 2021 to mixed reviews from critics.
