But it's time to come to terms that there are other fall flavors that sometimes get overshadowed by the kingpin that is pumpkin—and maybe it's about time we give them their time to shine.

Well, it looks like Southern comfort restaurant Cracker Barrel is on the same wavelength. Move over, pumpkin spice, because it's apple season at the Old Country Store!

Like our beloved pumpkin spice, apple is a quintessential fall flavor. From apple cider and spiced apple desserts to savory apple dishes, there are so many ways to utilize the fall fruit. And Cracker Barrel has decided to showcase the flavor in all its glory with its new fall menu that launched this week.

This year’s menu features some sweet treats and apple-centric drinks. Here’s a list of the featured items:

• Hashbrown Casserole Shepherd’s Pie: It isn’t exactly apple-themed, but it pairs perfectly with their other apple-forward menu items. Tender pot roast in a homestyle gravy is mixed with carrots, peas, onions, celery, and mashed potatoes, topped with a crispy hash brown crust, and finished with a dollop of sour cream. Even better, each pie is served with flaky buttermilk biscuits or corn muffins.

• Signature Fried Apple French Toast Bake: This dessert features thick-cut country bread soaked in vanilla custard and topped with cheesecake filling, then sprinkled with Cracker Barrel’s signature fried apples and a brown sugar streusel. Each dish is served with warm Butter Pecan Syrup and your choice of thick-cut bacon or smoked sausage.
