Costco shoppers shocked by Christmas displays: 'What the hell?'
Christmas is 18 weeks away, but the festive shopping season has already begun.
It might only be mid-August, but it's already beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Costco. The retailer has begun displaying products from its 2023 festive range in stores, drawing mixed emotions from shoppers.
One customer shared his surprise at seeing decorations and wrapping paper on shelves at Costco in Marsden Park, NSW. "Oh no, Christmas has started to arrive at Costco," he captioned a pic of the display on Facebook.
"It's only August!" responded an equally stunned shopper, while a second wrote, "I am not ready for this," and a third added, "What the hell?". But despite the shock for some, scores of shoppers said they couldn't be more excited about starting to prepare for their favourite time of year.

"I've been waiting for this day!" exclaimed one happy customer. "There's never 'oh no!' When it comes to Christmas and Costco. It's 'oh hell no there goes my bank account'," another joked. "Does that mean I can put up the Christmas tree?" asked someone else.
Amongst the Christmas items already available in stores are Costco's popular double-sided wrapping paper, Snoopy figurines, and LED glass tree ornaments.
The new items arrive just weeks after Costco released its Halloween decorations and costumes. "As my two worlds collide; My Halloween world and my Christmas world. Joy overload — not for my bank," one conflicted shopper quipped.
More Christmas products online
Costco has also added Christmas products to its online store, including crackers, a light-up snowman figure, LED candle centrepiece, LED light-up 81cm wreath, and a pack of glass Christmas trees.
With just a small amount of festive items available now, some shoppers said they're hoping to get their hands on Costco's giant Christmas trees, nutcracker statues and range of Mickey and Minnie Mouse figurines the retailer sold last year.
