Corinne Foxx Celebrated Engagement in Dad Jamie Foxx’s Room at Physical Rehab Center: ‘So Intimate and Meaningful’

Corinne Foxx is revealing the emotional details of her engagement to new husband Joe Hooten.

The 30-year-old actress told in Vogue that Hooten had originally arranged to pop the question in Ireland in the spring of 2023, but changed plans after her father Jamie Foxx was hospitalized due to a “medical complication.”

“We ended up spending our summer in Chicago while he recovered,” Corinne recalled. “Little did I know that Joe had changed his plans so he could still propose on the same day—just in a different city.”

She explained that Hooten proposed instead at a park in Chicago where “cherry blossoms” had been “in bloom,” and made sure it was a family affair. She noted that he had been in touch with her mom, dad and her aunts throughout the event.

“He flew in my mom from Los Angeles and had my aunts hiding in a bush FaceTiming my dad the entire time,” she shared with Vogue.

However, it didn’t stop there, as the film producer made sure that his future bride’s father was able to celebrate with the couple.

“He even planned a very special post-engagement party in my dad’s room [at a physical rehabilitation center] in Chicago,” Corinne said. “It was a small celebration, but it was so intimate and meaningful.”

The Beat Shazam host married Hooten during an intimate wedding celebration at her dad's home on Sunday, Sept. 22. The bride wore a glamorous, off-the-shoulder gown with a tulle veil as she walked down the aisle with her father, who wore a classic black tuxedo, several months after his recovery.

"It was incredibly special, considering his health scare last year. I walked down to a strings version of ‘Georgia On My Mind’ by Ray Charles," she told Vogue, adding, "There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when we came down the aisle."

Corinne, who met her husband in 2018, announced their engagement on Instagram in December 2023 alongside black and white photos of the pair sailing on a boat. In the photos, she displayed her engagement ring, which appeared to feature a large solitaire emerald-cut diamond set on a thin diamond band.

"From the first time I saw you, I knew you were my forever 💍❤️," she wrote at the time.

The Django Unchained actor also cheered the engagement news, posting a touching tribute to his daughter and Hooten on his own Instagram, writing, “congratulations on your engagement."

"@joe.hooten when you whispered to me a while back that you were gonna ask my baby girl to marry you I had tears of joy in my soul… 🙏🏾❤️," he continued, adding “can’t wait to walk you down that isle [sic].”
