Connie Britton Reveals What She Was Looking for in a Partner Before Meeting David Windsor (Exclusive)

Connie Britton was seeking a very specific kind of relationship when she met TV producer David Windsor, her partner of five years and counting.

“What I was really looking for was a partnership where there's constant growth, on both sides, and a sort of deepening of each other,” she exclusively told Parade for the March 16 cover story. "And therefore [a] deepening of who I am — and for him, who he is. So it makes me a better mom and a better actor, and just a better person in the world, and the same for him and for what he does. It's not just, like, 'Oh, I found true love.' It's that I found somebody who I can walk on a journey with that is going to be constantly ever-changing, but also ever-deepening."

Britton and Windsor met in 2019 at one of her friend's birthday parties — but they didn't properly connect until the next day, Britton told Andy Cohen on an episode of SiriusXM’s Radio Andy in 2023.

"We actually didn’t meet that night because it was, like, you know, a sit-down dinner [with] separate tables," she explained. "My friend was like, ‘Wait, wait, wait. I wanted to introduce you to David!’ I’m like, ‘You know what, just have him email me.’”

Prior to dating Windsor, Britton was linked to comedian Jason Mantzoukas (The Dictator). She was also married to investment banker John Britton, whom she met at her alma mater, Dartmouth College, from 1991 until 1995.

In addition to revealing what she was looking for in a partner before meeting Windsor, Britton shared with Parade why she decided to adopt her son, Eyob (nicknamed "Yoby"), from Ethiopia in 2011 as a single mom.

"I hadn't really found the relationship that was the right relationship to have a kid with a partner, and what I was looking for with that," she said. "And so I thought, 'This is the time, I'm going to start the adoption process.'"

She shared more about her journey as a single mother in Parade's recent cover story.
