It can be tough to keep a relationship relatively chill and low-key when only one person in the couple is an A-list celebrity. The fact that Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig manage to fly so under the radar as a pair with their combined fame factor? Truly the stuff of legend.
Rachel and Daniel are experts at keeping their love low-key and out of the headlines, but that doesn’t mean they hide how absolutely crazy about each other they are. Here’s a look back at their sweetest relationship moments and milestones over the years.
February 2010
Although Rachel and Daniel met back in the ’90s when they were both up-and-coming actors in London, they didn’t connect on a romantic level until February 2010, on the set of Dream House.
December 2010
By December of 2010, (accurate) rumors that Rachel and Craig were more than just friends and costars flew when they were spotted spending the Christmas holiday together in the English countryside, where they reportedly stayed together in a $1,500 per week cottage that came complete with budding-romance-friendly amenities like a sauna and rooftop terrace.
“They picked up groceries at a little corner shop, probably to take home and cook or prepare for their roast,” a local who witnessed their couple’s vacation told Us Weekly at the time. “They walked through the street like a married couple who had been together for ages—very much in love, very cozy and cute.”
February 2011
Rachel and Daniel didn’t seem to be hiding their romance during their Christmas trip, and by February, they definitely weren’t. They celebrated their first Valentine’s as a couple at The Box in NYC “making out and dancing all night,” according to an eyewitness who spoke to Us Weekly at the time. “They were adorable,” the source added.
June 2011
In June of 2011, after just six months together, Rachel and Daniel made things official in a super-secret wedding ceremony in New York in front of just four guests (Daniel’s daughter Ella, Rachel’s son Henry, then 4, and two friends, according to the Daily Mail).
“We got away with it,” Daniel told British GQ in 2012 of pulling off the secret wedding. “We did it privately. And I’ve got a lot of people to thank for that.”
July 28, 2011
About a month after they tied the knot, Rachel and Daniel stepped out together for their first public appearance as a married couple, at an NYC screening of The Whistleblower. They then reportedly engaged in some “we are married and in love and don’t care who sees” PDA at the event’s rooftop after-party.
“When Daniel arrived on the roof deck, he embraced Rachel and gave her a long tender kiss on the lips—it was very romantic,” a witness to said PDA told People at the time. Another guest described it slightly differently, saying, “It was very hot.”
January 4, 2012
In January of the following year, Rachel and Craig made their official red carpet debut as a couple at the premiere of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo in Madrid.
March 2012
In March of 2012, Daniel gushed publicly about his and Rachel’s marriage for the first time in an interview with British GQ. “I’m in love. I’m very happy. And that is as far as I’m prepared to go. I don’t want to say something now that might be thrown back later," he said, clearly apprehensive about over-sharing. "My happiness is more important to me. Ultimately, people are saying, ‘Give it six months.’ Well, guess what? I’m not responding. Life is long and I am hopefully in this for the long run.”
August 2012
A few months later, Rachel talked a little about the relationship in an interview with Marie Claire UK. When asked if it had been love at first sight for her and Daniel, Rachel pointed out that “it wasn’t really like that” because the pair had “been friends for ages” before they started dating.
While a relationship between two actors is notoriously difficult, Rachel revealed that it worked for them because they can understand each other's hectic schedules. “We don’t sit around talking about acting, but you both understand you’ve got to be flexible,” she said of their home life in the same interview. “Every few months, you start a new job.”
October 2013
Rachel and Daniel teamed up professionally again in 2013 when they both starred in Betrayal on Broadway.
“What’s interesting about the play is that it’s very intense and a very intense thing to do, but we manage to go home and just sort of leave it there at work,” Daniel told NPR at the time. “We don’t talk to each other about it, no. We separate about it. You know, she gets on with her thing, and I get on with my thing. And we decided to do that because it’s important to be separate entities when you’re at work.”
April 7, 2014
One year later, Rachel and Daniel were honored together for their work with the Opportunity Network, an organization that aims to increase access to college and career opportunities for underrepresented students.
“It’s really lovely,” Rachel said of working with her husband on the project, per People. “It’s something that was incredibly natural and obvious to us.”
October 2015
During an October 2015 appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Rachel ’fessed to owning some Daniel Craig fangirl merch. He is James Bond, after all.
“You know what you can buy? I’ve actually got one—one of those screen visor things that you put up at the top [of your car] that says ‘Mrs. Daniel Craig.’ You can buy them—I’ve got one....I don’t keep it up all the time, but every now and again,” she revealed.
November 2015
A month later, in an interview with More Magazine, the actor explained why she’s actually very protective of her relationship with Daniel.
“He’s just too famous. It would be a betrayal. You have to protect your marriage,” she said, per E! Online. “When you’re young, you tell your girlfriends everything. One of the great pleasures of not being an adolescent is that you don’t have to share everything. When you’re married, that door closes. The audience goes, and you’re in your own life.”
January 2018
Speaking with the Evening Standard in 2018, Rachel opened up about her private marriage. “I never thought I would get married,” the actor said. “It was not an ambition of mine. It was the opposite. I couldn’t relate to romantic comedies—marriage seems to be the whole point of them. Then it just happened, happily, at a more mature moment.”
That said, Rachel made it clear that she’s very happy with her decision to walk down the aisle. “I mean, I wear a ring all the time,” she said. “I wear my ring with pride. I’m taken.”
April 2018
That spring, the couple revealed they were expecting their first child together.
“We’re going to have a little human. We can’t wait to meet him or her. It’s all such mystery,” Rachel said at the time, confirming the news in an interview with the New York Times. “I’ll be showing soon. Daniel and I are so happy.”
At the time, a source close to the couple told People that the baby news wasn’t a surprise to people who knew them.
“It’s not surprising that they want a child together,” the insider said. “They are both smart and secure and having a child is a natural next step even though both have children from other relationships.”
May 2018
The baby news kicked off another round of public gushing for the couple, including a Good Morning America interview in which Rachel shared some insight into their private life together.
“We talk about films that we love or plays,” the actor shared. “We love to go to see theater and discuss things that we’ve seen. We respect each other. We appreciate each other’s work.”
November 2018
Three months after the couple welcomed their daughter, Rachel talked about the adorable new addition to their family during an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Specifically, she revealed that their daughter looks like a little Daniel Craig.
“She does look very like him,” she said. “She really does.” As for whether their daughter also inherited the actor’s “steely blue eyes and big shoulders,” Weisz responded jokingly, "Yeah, yeah, yeah."
March 2020
Although Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz generally steer clear of social media, the couple made an exception in March 2020, when the official James Bond Twitter account shared a video of them clapping for health care workers in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

June 2021
In June 2021, Rachel appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and shared a story that proves exactly how low-key her relationship with Daniel Craig really is.
Rachel was on a “very secret summit meeting” call with the other key people behind Black Widow—Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, Marvel overlord Kevin Feige and the film’s director Cate Shortland—when the subject of box office competition came up.
“They were strategizing when Black Widow was going to come out, and Kevin was talking about, ‘Well, the other tentpole movie that’s going to be coming out is the Bond movie,’” she explained. “And they’re all discussing it…I thought, Maybe he doesn’t actually know I’m married to Daniel. And at that moment, Daniel was walking down the stairs into the kitchen. And I really wanted to turn the screen around and go, ‘Well, he’s right here. You can ask him.’”
October 2022
Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz made a rare public appearance together at the 2022 BFI London Film Festival’s closing night party for Glass Onion.
April 2023
Rachel Weisz disappointed fans hoping to see her and Daniel Craig acting together again when she revealed that since welcoming their daughter, they prefer to take turns working.
“I think we aren’t going to at the moment,” she explained during an interview on Sunday Today, per People. “I think we really love our private life as a family, and then we go to work separately. We really enjoyed that experience...but I think it’s nicer to...it also means we can alternate. I can stay home with the family while he works, we can swap out. If we’re both doing something at the same time, it’s probably less ideal.”
November 2023
While promoting his film, Queer, Daniel admitted that he's more selective when it comes to picking roles than he used to be. "I've got a 6-year-old at home," he told The New York Times. "And I don't want to be away from home as much as I have in the past."
Well, we can't argue with that!
