"Do We Need To Come Out Of Retirement And Teach The Girls How To Wear Heels?" — This Woman Sparked A Debate Over What Shoes To Wear To The Club, And Now You Can Vote

If you've been on TikTok at all lately, you've likely seen countless people commenting, stitching, and discussing a woman affectionately called "green dress girl" on the app (for obvious reasons).

Rachel Parrish, known as @Raechristine___ on TikTok, is the CEO of Rae Christine Agency in Chicago, Illinois. After a night out with her friends, she made a video about something she saw in a club that confused her. So, in a viral TikTok that now has almost 21 million views, she asked her followers: Why aren't people wearing heels anymore?

"I don't know what's happening to club culture, but the girlies are not wearing heels in the clubs anymore," she said.

"As a 34-year-old, do we need to come out of retirement and teach the girls how to wear heels? Or like, what heels you need to shop for when going out in the club? Because the amount of flats and sandals that I saw is just like — part of the thrill of going to the club is dancing on the couch in your heels!"

The video then cuts to her in front of a mirror showing her whole outfit, and she says, "We've got to figure it out. We've got to bring heel culture back to the clubs because what are ya'll doing? What's going on? What are ya'll even doing? What's the purpose of going to the club if you're not gonna dress up?"

As the video took off, the comments were full of people who were very seriously pro or anti-heels:

Many who were pro-heels said the time, place, or circumstances don't matter. They're wearing heels no matter what. "I still wear heels ! idc idc idc," one person wrote.

On the other hand, for those who were anti-heels, the priority was simply being able to dance in peace. "Comfort babes. heels are literally torture. i just wanna dance," another person said.

There were also a lot of comments pointing out that this difference in preference is generational. "Club culture is different from our era, 2008-2014 we could wear heels... now you have to be prepared to run at all times so sneakers it is," another commenter said.

And on behalf of Gen Z, here's the dress code many of them are apparently following.

Rachel has reiterated on her page that sharing this hot take was all in good fun. So when it comes to what people want to wear on their feet to the club, "I want people to wear whatever makes them feel their best. I will say, I think there's something so fun and feminine about the act of getting ready, dressing up, putting on your heels, and dancing to your favorite songs with your girls," she said.
