“I think there had been conversations of me coming to Marvel in some way,” Domingo told Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “So we [Domingo and his PR team] did follow up with a sit-down meeting with the heads of Marvel. So we did do that, and we talked openly about the landscape of Marvel or even the Kang rumors.”

He continued, “But I feel like I want a role to be mine, whatever that role is, whatever I develop. Something didn’t feel right of me, like, ‘Oh, would I replace someone?’ No, I want to build something from the ground up that’s my own.”

Domingo noted that he did not know if he was actually discussed to take over the role of Kang but was open to work with Marvel on something.

“I feel like that was never a conversation from my point of view, if I was discussed [to take over Kang],” the Sing Sing actor said. “I still don’t know if I was discussed, but I just know that I would want to build something up from the ground up. So, there’s still talks.”

Majors was convicted of two misdemeanor counts of reckless assault and harassment and was sentenced to probation. The actor played Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantimania and was reported to reprise his role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, following the accusations and subsequent conviction, Marvel distanced themselves from the character. Instead, Marvel re-titled the following Avengers films to Avengers: Doomsday and focused on Doctor Doom, set to be played by Robert Downey Jr.
