“Weekend Update” anchor Colin Jost seemed genuinely taken aback by the cheers from the Saturday Night Live audience at the mention of alleged murderer Luigi Mangione’s name during the show’s final episode of 2024.

“Luigi Mangione—” Jost began as loud cheers erupted from the crowd. He was forced to stop mid-sentence to say, “Yeah, definitely ‘woo.’ You’re ‘wooing’ for justice, right?”

The joke that followed played into the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson as an unlikely sex symbol as Jost “reported” that the dating app Bumble “exploded” when Mangione was extradited to New York.

Michael Che’s follow-up about Mangione getting placed in the same prison as Sean “Diddy” Combs was even more pointed: “Said Combs, ‘Mm, Christmas came early.’”

Earlier in the segment, Jost looked back at the past year, marveling that it saw Diddy land himself in jail, Donald Trump get re-elected president, and Elon Musk “appoint himself co-president.”

“And I don’t know what next year will hold, but one thing”s for certain, we will see all three of those guys at SNL’s 50th anniversary,” he joked, highlighting the fact that each man has served as either host or musical guest in the past.
