If you've been wanting to get your hands on a weighted blanket but have been turned off by the $200+ price, Coles may be the answer to your prayers as the supermarket will be releasing their own version for just $79.

It seems as though Coles is keen on rivalling Aldi's Special Buys with their new Best Buys promotion.

According to Healthline, weighted blankets help people with anxiety, insomnia and other conditions as the extra weight mimics a therapeutic technique called deep pressure stimulation which relaxes the nervous system.

Coles' version is 6.5kg and goes on sale this Friday, June 12.

They will also be selling a $19.99 faux fur throw and a machine washable wool blend queen size doona for $54.99.

Best Buys are available at 58 stores in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, but it's believed more stores will be added in coming weeks.

Coles General Manager for Health & Home Jonathan Torr said in a statement that Coles is always looking for ways to "add some sparkle" to customers' shopping experience.

“We have introduced Coles Best Buys to add some sparkle to the shopping experience as well as provide convenient and affordable options to our customers,” he said.

“Customers have told us they love it when they can get all of their needs in the one store. We think they are going to love our new Coles Best Buys range, which is a great example of the good things we’re doing to inspire customers by offering them great quality, value and going beyond what they expected when they walked into our store.

“We’ve already trialled similar products in a small number of stores and customer feedback was very positive both on the quality of the products as well as the value for money.”
