Shocking secret behind Cody Simpson's relationship with Miley Cyrus

It’s been a whirlwind few months for Cody Simpson, after going public with his relationship with Miley Cyrus and winning The Masked Singer in Australia.

And now his mum, Queenslander Angie Simpson, has spilled all her 22-year-old son’s secrets live on-air, including the claim that he’s actually dated 26-year-old Miley in the past.

Angie rang into the Kyle & Jackie O Show on KIIS 106.5 this morning to take part in a segment called ‘Cash for Comment’, where people have to convince the hosts that their son or daughter is a famous person for a cash prize of $1,000.

During her interview, Angie – who confirmed her identity by also putting her famous daughter Alli Simpson on the air – revealed that her beloved son actually dated Miley years ago, but they decided to keep the whole thing a secret.

“I love Miley and I love the family we’ve known them for quite a while my daughter Alli was very good friends with Miley’s sister Noah, so we traveled on the road a lot with the two of them working together over the years,” Angie started.

“We kind of got to know them when Cody and Miley had a bit of a romance way back that we kept a secret.”

Miley and Cody haven’t been shy about flaunting their new romance online, with the pair regularly sharing snaps of each on Instagram - with Miley even posing with her hand down Cody’s trousers in one of the photos.

But despite the risqué nature of the snaps, Cody’s mum loves how open they are about their love.

“Aw look I even reposted it because I just think it’s so funny,” Angie said about the snap.

“I like to just go with the flow and respect the two of them and they’re doing it just for fun and for exactly what the media are saying.

“They’re like two peas in a pod. We were just on FaceTime to them this morning. They’re in Nashville having a bit of a holiday and I think they just like to play it up.”

After Cody danced and sang his way to the final as the Robot on Channel 10’s The Masked Singer, there were reports that things were tense between him and Miley, after he was caught having a heated argument on the phone.

However, Angie rubbished those reports, saying that there is no drama in their relationship.

“I think it was just Lindsay being a judge on The Masked Singer and Cody had dated her sister Ali,” she said.

Miley and Cody started dating last month just weeks after the Slide Away singer split from her whirlwind romance with Brody Jenner’s ex, Kaitlynn Carter.

The pair were caught kissing on an Italian getaway on the same weekend Miley’s separation from Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth was announced, after less than a year of marriage.
