Clint Eastwood Teases Big Updates to Old Films

Clint Eastwood has some new projects up his sleeve—OK, maybe they're not totally new, but they've been refreshed at the very least.

Earlier this month, the 94-year-old actor began teasing fans with the inside scoop on the remastered copies of some of his biggest hits, which are expected to be released in the near future.

Eastwood, synonymous with Hollywood's most successful westerns, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to drop the promotional cover images of the impending 4K remastered versions of several films in which he starred.

So far, the Oscar-winning producer and director has shared a look at the preliminary artwork for 4K UHD Limited Edition Steelbook of the 1976 film co-starring Sondra LockeThe Outlaw Josey Wales, as well as an initial preview of the artwork for the 40th Anniversary Limited Edition 4K UHD Steelbook of Pale Rider—"originally planned as a French release."

"It will now be available worldwide," Eastwood revealed in a tweet. "This release will accompany the 4K Steelbooks of The Outlaw Josey Wales and Dirty Harry. Additionally, a Special Collector's Edition of Dirty Harry, along with its 4K Steelbook, will also be launched."

Further previews will be available soon..." he teased.

Not only that, but the former mayor of California's seaside city of Carmel also uploaded behind-the-scenes clips from several projects, including one from The Gauntlet (1977).

He even posted some throwbacks to various publicity shoots and a few of his memorable moments from his decades-long career.

Specific details about the remastered films have not been made public just yet, but an official announcement appears to be in the pipeline, given what Eastwood has shared so far.

Those feeling nostalgic for a rewatch can still do so almost immediately, with several of his popular titles currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Tubi. Eastwood's most recent credits—Juror #2 (2024) and Cry Macho (2021)—are also available to watch on HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu.
