'Clever' Kmart chopping board storage hack saves shopper $143

A savvy Kmart shopper has revealed how they saved themselves big bucks on a storage solution for the numerous chopping boards cluttering their kitchen bench.

Instead of forking out $150 on a set of new chopping boards with a purpose-made holder from a homewares store, Zoe from Cooloongup WA tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she stumbled across a near-identical product in Kmart’s stationery section of all places.

“I was inspired after seeing a set of chopping boards with a stand on sale for $150 in a kitchen shop,” she says.

Zoe liked the concept but wasn’t willing to spend that much — a good thing too as she soon found a dupe for a fraction of the price.

“While shopping in Kmart for school supplies, I saw the file stand and instantly thought of the chopping board stand.”

The store’s $7 Vertical File Holder has space for eight chopping boards — or files, we suppose — and according to Zoe the metal frame is the perfect drying spot, too.

“It works well as there is plenty of room between the boards to ensure they dry after washing,” she says.

Zoe was so impressed with her hack that she shared several snaps in a Facebook group for Kmart fans who clearly loved the idea.

“Love the chopping board idea! Clever,” wrote one in the comments.

Others piped up to share their own uses for the file holder:

“We do the same and I use the stands to store my baking trays etc as well,” one said.
