Tommy Shelby is back in business.

Cillian Murphy and the rest of the Peaky Blinders movie cast and crew kicked off production on the highly anticipated follow-up on Monday, Sept. 30, with Netflix sharing the first photos from set.

In the first snap, Murphy, 48, returns as Tommy, suited up in a polished profile. The second image shows Murphy and series creator Steven Knight dressed casually as they sit together on set.

Knight, 65, said in a statement, "I’m thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II."

"The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders," added Knight, who wrote the film.

The film will costar Tim Roth, Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan alongside Murphy, though specific plot details are being kept under wraps for now.

"There’s a great feeling of anticipation and excitement amongst our outstanding cast and crew," director Tom Harper said in a statement. "We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point and believe this next chapter is going to deliver something extraordinary."

Netflix confirmed Murphy's gangster character would return for a movie version of the hit BBC series, which ran for six seasons from 2013 to 2022, back in June.

The streaming service shared a photo of the script on X (formerly known as Twitter), confirming the upcoming film had been written by Knight and directed by Harper, 44.

“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me … It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans,” Murphy said.

Murphy is coming off of a Best Actor Oscar win earlier this year, his first-ever Academy Award, for his lead role as physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's epic Oppenheimer.

In his acceptance speech, Murphy thanked longtime collaborator Nolan, 54, the Academy and more, admitting he was feeling "a little overwhelmed" at the honor.

"It's been the wildest, most exhilarating, most creatively satisfying journey you've taken me on over the last 20 years. I owe you more than I can say," he continued. "Thank you so much [to] every single crew member, every single cast member, on Oppenheimer; you guys carried me through. All my fellow nominees, I remain in awe of you guys. Truly."

The actor went on to thank his "incredible team" and his family, including wife of 20 years Yvonne McGuinness and their teenage sons Malachy and Aran, who were in the audience.

"I love you so much, and I'm a very proud Irish man standing here tonight," Murphy said.

Netflix's Peaky Blinders film, made in association with BBC Film, does not yet have a release date.
