Christmas 2024 trading hours revealed

With Christmas hot on our heels, it’s important to know what shops will be open for last-minute booze, food and pressies.

Here are the trading hours for your shopping needs on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, all the way around Australia.

Woolworths

In most cases, Woolworths stores will be open on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day in all states and territories, though there are a few exceptions.

Christmas Eve – December 24

All Woolworths stores will be open on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day – December 25

All Woolworths stores will be closed on Christmas Day in all states and territories.

Boxing Day – December 26

All Woolworths stores will be open in Victoria, NSW, Queensland, WA, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the ACT.

All regional Woolworths will be shut in metropolitan stores, but will be open in regional stores in South Australia, with the exception of Millicent.

New Year’s Day

All Woolworths stores will be open on New Year’s Day in every state and territory.

ALDI

Just like the other supermarkets, ALDI stores will be closed on Christmas Day, though will re-open at reduced hours for the remaining holiday season.

Christmas Eve – December 24

Christmas Day – December 25

All ALDI stores will be closed on Christmas Day in all states and territories.

Boxing Day – December 26

All ALDI stores will be open in all states and territories, though will operate in restricted hours.

New Year’s Day

All ALDI stores will be open in all states and territories on New Year’s Day, operating in restricted hours.

Some ALDI stores in South Australia will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Coles

While some stores may differ, Coles will be closed on Christmas Day across all states and territories, and will be open on every other day, including Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Day.

Christmas Eve – December 24

Christmas Day – December 25

All Coles stores will be closed on Christmas Day in all states and territories.

Boxing Day – December 26

All Coles stores will be open in Victoria, NSW, Queensland, WA, Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the ACT.

New Year’s Day

All metropolitan Coles stores in Adelaide will be shut on New Years’s Day. All regional stores will be open.

Kmart

While some stores differ depending on the state or territory, Kmart will be closed on Christmas Day across Australia and will be open on every other day, including Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

All Kmart stores will be closed on Christmas Day in all states and territories.

Boxing Day – December 26

All Kmart stores will be open on Boxing Day in all states and territories.

New Year’s Day

Most Kmart stores will be open on New Year’s Day in all states and territories.

In South Australia, the following Kmart stores will be open on Boxing Day: Mt Gambier, Mt Barker, Port Lincoln, Victor Harbour, Murray Bridge, Port Pirie, Rundle Mall, Whyalla, Berri, Port Augusta, and Kadina.

Westfield

Westfield shopping centres will be closed open Christmas Day but open for the majority of the holiday period.

Christmas Eve – December 24

All Westfield shopping centres will be open on Christmas Eve in all states and territories.

Christmas Day – December 25

All Westfield shopping centres will be closed on Christmas Day in all states and territories.

Boxing Day – December 26

All Westfield shopping centres will be open on Boxing Day in all states and territories.

New Year’s Day

In NSW, all Westfield shopping centres will be closed on New Year’s Day with the exception of Warringah.

Westfield shopping centres in SA and the ACT will be closed on New Year’s Day.

All other Westfield shopping centres will be open for the remaining states and territories.

Liquorland, Vintage Cellars, First Choice Liquor Market

Christmas Eve – December 24

All Liquorland, Vintage Cellars and First Choice Liquor Market stores will be open on Christmas Eve in all states and territories.

Christmas Day – December 25

All Liquorland, Vintage Cellars and First Choice Liquor Market stores will be closed on Christmas Day in all states and territories.

Boxing Day – December 26

All Liquorland, Vintage Cellars and First Choice Liquor Market stores will be open on Boxing Day in all states and territories.

However, stores in Alice Springs, Queensland, Red Hill and Milton Village will remain closed on Boxing Day.

New Year’s Day

All Liquorland, Vintage Cellars and First Choice Liquor Market stores will be open on New Year’s Day with the exception of some WA stores.

BWS/ Dan Murphy’s

Christmas Eve – December 24

All BWS and Dan Murphy’s stores will be open on Christmas Eve in all states and territories.

Christmas Day – December 25

All BWS and Dan Murphy’s stores will be closed on Christmas Day in all states and territories, except for some stores in Victoria and Tasmania.

Boxing Day – December 26

All BWS and Dan Murphy’s stores will be open on Boxing Day in all states and territories.

BWS will open at regular trading hours.

Dan Murphy’s will operate under reduced hours.

New Year’s Day

All BWS and Dan Murphy’s stores will be open on New Year’s Day under slightly reduced hours.
