‘Chicago P.D.’ Casts Shawn Hatosy As Recurring In Season 12
There will be a new face on the force of Chicago P.D. Southland and Animal Kingdom alum Shawn Hatosy has joined the Season 12 cast in the recurring role of Deputy Chief Charlie Reid, sources confirm to Deadline.
Hatosy will make his first appearance in the September 25 premiere and brings about a “new dynamic for the [Intelligence] unit,” showrunner Gwen Sigan tells TV Insider, which first reported the casting.

“I think he sees a lot of himself in Voight [Sgt. Hank Voight, played by Jason Beghe} and identifies quite a bit with Voight and Voight’s philosophy as a police officer, and they have a really interesting relationship that will evolve as the season goes on,” added Sigan.
Chicago P.D. revolves around the men and women of the Chicago Police Department’s elite Intelligence Unit, combatting the city’s most heinous offenses – organized crime, drug trafficking, high-profile murders and beyond.
Dick Wolf executive produces alongside Sigan, Chad Saxton, Rick Eid, Derek Haas, Gavin Harris, Jason Beghe, Arthur Forney, Peter Jankowski and Michael Brandt. Chicago P.D. is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.
Hatosy is perhaps best known for his role as Detective Sammy Bryant on Southland. He also portrayed Andrew “Pope” Cody on Animal Kingdom. He’ll next be seen on Fox’s Rescue: HI-Surf and Max’s upcoming medical drama The Pitt in recurring roles.
