Chevy Chase Shares New Photo With Apparent Injury and Fans Are Concerned

Chevy Chase isn't letting a little facial bruising keep him from flexing on Instagram.

On Monday, the National Lampoon's Vacation actor shared a sweet new picture of himself with his infant granddaughter, but it sparked concern from fans after they noticed what appeared to be bruising below his right eye.

In the new image, Chase, 81, posed on a couch wearing a red button-down plaid shirt, red frame eyeglasses, an Apple watch and some silver chains while smiling for the camera. The Saturday Night Live alum held his granddaughter, Ivy, who was born to his daughter, Emily, this past August and pictured with her back to the lens.

Though everyone looked to be in good spirits for the photo, Chase was clearly healing an injury to his face, but he made no mention of it in the post and only gushed over the newest addition to his family in the accompanying caption.

"@em_chases and @alex.baglieri brought my beautiful granddaughter over," he wrote alongside the Dec. 9 Instagram upload. "Check out her fanny! ❤️," he teased, pointing out the NSFW phrase written in script on the infant's bum: "S--tter's full."

Chase also did not respond to any comments from fans expressing their concern over the apparent injury, like one who exclaimed, "What happen [sic] to chevys eye?!"

Another asked if he "Got in a fight with the mailman in Red Bud?" a nod to the 1988 comedy in which he stars, Funny Farm.

"Such a precious photo, and I’m sorry to see your [sic] injured," a third shared. "I hope your eye gets well soon. ♥️."

"Cute baby!" one more declared before inquiring, "What happened to your eye?"

A rep for the comedy legend did assure TMZ reporters that he's doing alright. "He does not like to brag, but he fights crime late at night. You can thank him later," they quipped.

Jokes aside, the injury wasn't a result of anything incredibly serious. According to the outlet, Chase "just bumped his head in his hotel room rushing for a meeting." Ouch!
