SNL got a major dose of star power when Cher showed up on the red carpet for a rare date night with her boyfriend, Alexander "A.E." Edwards. Stepping out in coordinated all-black ensembles, the couple exuded Old Hollywood elegance made modern thanks to a favorite sartorial trend: monochrome.

Starting with Edwards, the music executive kept it classic in a black suit featuring a double-breasted jacket, pleated black trousers, and matching black shoes. Cher, meanwhile, wore a long, silky LBD with a plunging neckline bedazzled with dozens of rhinestones. She paired the look with a faux-fur coat, thigh-high boots, and a vintage-inspired beehive updo.

Cher and Edwards have been dating since 2022 after a meet-cute at Paris Fashion Week. Since then, the pair have appeared on the red carpet together a handful of times, including at the 2024 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Their relationship first made headlines because of their age gap (Edwards is 40 years younger than the "Strong Enough" singer).

"Love doesn't know math," Cher said during an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show. "We get along great, he's fabulous, and I don't give men qualities they don't deserve. He's very kind, he's very smart, he's very talented, and he's really funny. And I think he's quite handsome."

Cher has been open about her struggles dating men her age, previously telling People that "The truth was if I hadn't gone out with younger men, I would have never had a date." She continued, saying, "Younger men weren't intimidated by older women. But older men in my age category, they weren't having it."

Speaking more specifically about her connection with Edwards one year in, she told People that "What I learned is that it’s never too late."

"If you wrote out all the statistics, you would go, ‘Well, this is doomed,'" she said. "But we’ve been together a year, and if it was just a year, it would’ve been worth it. I’ve had the best time. He’s special. No matter what happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh, and we have fun."
