Chef José Andrés New Book “Change the Recipe ”Offers 'Advice From a Lifetime of Cooking' (Exclusive)
The Michelin-starred chef and humanitarian's next offering will arrive in April 2025
Chef José Andrés knows that "every dish has a story to tell." And according to him, the same can be said for "every cook."
Now seven months away from the release of his forthcoming book, Change the Recipe, the 55-year-old humanitarian, TV host and Michelin-starred chef is exclusively revealing the cover of his next offering with PEOPLE. And he's got quite a few stories to share this time around.
Change the Recipe, Andrés' next book set to release under HarperCollins imprint Ecco in April 2025, is categorized as a "collection of life lessons" from the renowned chef, who offers "teachable moments that are funny, touching and insightful, animated by the belief that food can bring us closer together and the conviction that each of us can change the world for the better."
"Written in José’s unmistakable voice, Change the Recipe is a collection of José's most affecting and powerful life lessons: hard-won wisdom from a man who has dedicated his life to changing the world through the power of food," the book's description reads.

As Andrés exclusively tells PEOPLE in a statement, a person "can learn so much about life in the mayhem of a kitchen," and can also learn about others "by sharing a meal with them."
"This book is a collection of my stories and advice from a lifetime of cooking and feeding the world around me," he says. "Life can be messy, and it can be a joy. I know that as a cook, when things don’t go right, you need to adapt. You need to show what you can do, on the go, in real time. Maybe you have to break some rules, or take a different turn. Maybe you have to change the recipe."
"Because you can’t make an omelet, or build a better world, without breaking some eggs," he added.

The World Central Kitchen founder's latest book cover, which features an illustration of a cracked egg, encapsulates what Andrés is aiming for with his next read: A project that pulls from his lifetime of experiences ("from the kitchen to war zones," as its description notes) to offer some fresh insight to readers and fans of his work.
Andrés is no stranger to publishing, with his most recent titles including 2019's We Fed an Island: The True Story of Rebuilding Puerto Rico, One Meal at a Time, 2019's Vegetables Unleashed and Zaytinya, which released back in March.
Beyond his latest book news, it's been a big month for Andrés, who was recently recruited by Prince William's Earthshot Prize to join its Earthshot Prize Council alongside activists Wanjira Mathai and Nemonte Nenquimo. As previously reported, the council selects winners of its $1 million Earthshot Prize across five categories, aimed to promote impactful approaches to environmental challenges.
Change the Recipe will be published on April 22, 2025 and is now available for preorder, wherever books are sold.
