The actress talked with PEOPLE about the upcoming slasher reboot at the premiere of her new Apple TV+ series, The Studio, which was held during the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas, on Friday, March 7.
Released in 1997, the original I Know What You Did Last Summer starred Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. (both of whom are returning for the reboot), as well as Prinze's real-life wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Anne Heche and Johnny Galecki.
Asked by PEOPLE what she can tease about the new movie, Wonders, 28, said, "It's really fun, and the cast is incredible. We filmed partially in Australia and now we're finishing up in L.A."

After calling director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) "a genius," the actress went on to say that Hewitt, 46, Prinze, 49, and Gellar, 47, are "icons, and we've gotten to meet all of them."
"They're absolute legends and live up to all my expectations, which is a lot," Wonders told PEOPLE.
The Bodies Bodies Bodies star said that seeing all the original cast back together more than 25 years after the release of the first film has been "incredible" and "so surreal."
"I had to act with my contacts out, ‘cause I couldn't focus while seeing them act in front of me," Wonders quipped.
The new movie will feature a new cast that also includes Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, Jonah Hauer-King, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols and Gabbriette Bechtel, in addition to Hewitt and Prinze reprising their roles of Julie James and Ray Bronson, respectively.

Gellar and Prinze, meanwhile, met on the original movie's set; while Prinze's Ray survived the slasher, Gellar's Helen Shivers was murdered. And as she told PEOPLE in October 2024 of her character, "I am dead."
The following month, though, Gellar fueled speculation that she might be in the upcoming reboot after all, posting a photo of a director's chair that read "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER" on the back. But as she shared the photo to Instagram Stories, Gellar wrote, "Visiting my man @realfreddieprinze and my girl @jennkaytin.”
Regardless of whether Helen appears in the film in some form, Gellar admitted to PEOPLE in October that she'd play a small part, with her husband set to reprise his role — even if it's just behind the scenes and "unofficial."
"My best friend [Robinson] is directing it, so we joke that I have an unofficial job, which is I am continuity," she explained. "So I'm always the one telling her, 'Well, that would happen, or that wouldn't happen with those characters,' so I do have kind of an unofficial job title."
The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot debuts in theaters July 18.
