The Grammys officially crowned pop royalty on Sunday — specifically the Midwest Princess also known as Chappell Roan.
Nominated in six categories this year, Roan made her Grammys debut with an unforgettable, rodeo-themed performance of “Pink Pony Club,” one of several hits off her album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. We hope you all like clowns, because you’re about to see a lot of ’em.

Roan also got quite the introduction from three-time Grammy Award winner Olivia Rodrigo: “Today, she’s a sensation all around the world, but I was her friend and a big fan when she was working at a donut shop in Highland Park not so long ago. What an honor it is to watch the whole world embrace the talent and vision of my extraordinary friend.”
Roan entered her first Grammys with six nominations, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Good Luck, Babe!”; and Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.
Roan was also nominated for in the once-in-a-lifetime category of Best New Artist, facing stiff competition from the likes of Benson Boone, Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, Khruangbin, Raye, Shaboozey and Teddy Swims — and she won!
“I told myself if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a livable wage, especially to developing artists,” Roan began, then proceeded to do just that.
