Chad Michael Murray Credits Six-Pack to 'Wanting to Keep' His 'Pretty Wife Happy'

Chad Michael Murray is sharing the secret to his impressive abs.

The 43-year-old actor, who shows off his toned physique in the Netflix Christmas movie The Merry Gentlemen, opened up about his regimen while chatting with Interview magazine.

When asked about how he stays motivated to maintain his six-pack, Murray replied, "I don’t know. I’m going to say having a pretty wife, wanting to keep her happy."

He continued, "Even though she’s totally not the type that would ever demand that of me, you want to look good for the Mrs. I also like to be at a certain place at all times, just in case an opportunity like this arises. It’s a lifestyle."

Murray flaunts his abs in The Merry Gentlemen, which follows a Broadway dancer (Britt Robertson) as she travels home for the holidays and stages an all-male, Christmas-themed revue in hopes of saving her parents’ small-town performing venue. Murray plays one of the dancers, Luke.

“I'd never danced professionally or trained by any means,” the actor recently told PEOPLE. “I love going out and dancing. My wife [Sarah Roemer] and I have danced at a wedding or two and we dance on occasion and we goof around at the house, but nothing to this level.”

While the role intimidated him at first, Murray shared: “When I see something and it scares the crap out of me, something in me says, ‘Alright, well let's see what we can do. I'm going to fall flat on my face or have a lot of fun doing it.’ So that was what really pulled me in."

He also said that the physical transformation was all "very intense" but added, "I love a good challenge.”

The One Tree Hill alum married his actress wife in 2015. The couple share three children: a 9-year-old son, a 6-year-old daughter and a daughter they welcomed in August 2023.

Murray recently opened up about life as a dad of three during an interview with Variety. He shared that his family of five, whom he refers to as "The Pack," travels together to every gig Murray books.

“I want to be there," he explained, referring to being present in his children's lives. "I got to be there for my daughter’s first steps. I got to take her trick or treating for the first time."

“And she crushed it!” he added.
