Celeb Chef Curtis Stone Just Opened the Pie Room in Beverly Hills

The Michelin-starred chef Curtis Stone is making one of his pandemic projects permanent.

On Tuesday, Stone debuted the Pie Room in the same space that formerly held his restaurant Maude. The concept was originally a pop-up bakery serving sweet and savory pies, pastries, and sandwiches. It was so successful, Stone decided to turn it into a full-time venture, with a 6,000-square-foot commercial bakery to boot.

“We’re so excited to bring The Pie Room to life,” Stone said in a statement. “During the pandemic, The Pie Room became a way for us to stay connected with our guests and the neighborhood, and now it’s an honor to offer it a permanent home where we can continue to share our love for pies while expanding our menu.”

Throughout the day, the Pie Room will offer pies of all sorts, including a shepherd’s pie with buttered crust, along with breads and patisserie. Whether dining at the café or picking up food to go, you’ll also have the option to chow down on light bistro fare and sandwiches such as stewed beef with parsley and onions. At night, the Pie Room will transform into a European-style wine bar: Charcuterie boards come courtesy of Stone’s Michelin-starred Gwen, a butcher shop and restaurant in Hollywood. Farmhouse cheeses complement the meats, and daily specials will run the gamut from loup de mer to duck ragu gnocchi. Eventually, the chef Serkan Çetinarslan hopes to add some traditional Turkish dishes.

Stone has been a mainstay on the Los Angeles dining scene for some time now. In 2014, he opened Maude as his first solo restaurant. It received a Michelin star once the Michelin Guide expanded to all of California in 2019, but it closed in July of this year. Gwen followed in 2016, receiving its own Michelin star in 2022. And while his roots may be in L.A., Stone also has the live-fire restaurant Woodend in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Outside of the kitchen, he’s appeared on a host of culinary programs and has his own show and podcast, Getting Grilled With Curtis Stone.

While Angelenos may still be mourning the loss of Maude, they’re probably also cheering the fact that Stone didn’t give up on the Beverly Hills space completely. The Pie Room may be more casual, but it continues to feature the comforting fare that Stone is well known for.
