Cate Blanchett is known to redefine the rules of fashion with her red carpet looks. Remember her faux-wood statement belt and her even flashier halter top made of actual silver spoons? The actress did it again on Wednesday at the 2024 Venice Film Festival in a much more demure and mindful manner.

Blanchett stepped onto the storied—and star-studded—red carpet at a screening of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in a Champagne-colored Armani Privé number that, at first glance, looks like a simple strapless gown. Upon further investigation, however, it seems Blanchett channeled the film's signature spook as her satin A-line dress subtly resembled a mummy with crystal beading that wrapped around the fabric. Perhaps even more noteworthy was Blanchett's pearl Louis Vuitton necklace that sat around her shoulders, rather than her neck.

Aside from her gravity-defying necklace, Blanchett kept her accessories simple with stud earrings. Her signature blonde bob was styled in loose waves and a middle part, while her minimalistic glam consisted of thick black eyeliner and mauve lip color.

Blanchett was joined by other celebrities on the red carpet, including stars of the upcoming movie, Jenna Ortega, Winona Ryder, Monica Bellucci, and Catherine O’Hara. The Tim Burton film, which is a sequel to the beloved 1988 flick, is set to hit theaters on September 6.

Before slipping into her mummified gown, Blanchett wore another look that paid homage to the original queen of goth, Lydia Deetz (played by Ryder).

Earlier in the day, Blanchett was spotted in an all-black OOTD that featured a fitted velvet top with a bedazzled hem and dramatic puffy statement sleeves, as well as matching tailored trousers. Black peep-toe stilettos and chic matching sunglasses finished off the look.
