Carrie Underwood Says Her "Mind Is Blown" By Latest Milestone

The American Music Awards' 50th Anniversary Special aired on Sunday, October 6, and Carrie Underwood is feeling nostalgic.

“It is so special to me that I won the Breakthrough Artist back in 2006—you have one shot to get breakthrough awards,” she revealed in a promo video on X, formerly Twitter. “It is such an honor to win fan-voted awards. They have always been supportive of me since day one. That’s literally how I got into this business. It is for people voting for me. I will look at those awards and just still my mind is blown. I have so many favorite moments from getting to go to the AMAs. One of my absolute favorite moments was when Slash and Scott Wylan presented me with an award. Getting an award from them was just super surreal.”

Over the past nearly 20 years, Carrie has been nominated for 23 AMAs, 17 of which she’s won, including Favorite Country Album and Favorite Female Country Artist several times over. While the “Before He Cheats” singer wasn’t up for any nominations or awards this year, her fans continue to praise her as an entertainer.

“The real queen of country music,” one fan commented on Instagram. “Country queen and #AMAs queen,” someone else wrote.

As much as fans loved reminiscing with Carrie during her artist interview during the 50th Anniversary Special, which highlighted iconic performances old and new, some fans were less than thrilled about the show’s format. “American music awards with no awards and it’s 50 mins into it! What a waste,” one fan exclaimed. “Is this show an awards show? What is it,” someone else remarked.
