During an interview with The Guardian in 2019, the eight-time Grammy Award winner opened up about why she chooses to keep her political leanings private.

"I feel like more people try to pin me places politically,” she told the outlet at the time. “I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins. It’s crazy. Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”

Is Carrie Underwood anti-vax?

It is unclear if Underwood is anti-vax.

However, after her husband, NHL player Mike Fisher, shared a lengthy message supporting Aaron Rodgers amid the NFL quarterback's controversial remarks about the COVID-19 vaccine, the country star seemingly approved Fisher's post by "liking" it at the time, according to a previous report from E! "I stand with @aaronrodgers12. I believe in the freedom to choose what we put in our bodies and the freedom of conscience. I agree with him in that the science clearly shows the vaccinated spread covid at basically the same rate as the unvaccinated," Fisher wrote in a 2021 post via Instagram. "The @nhl @nfl and other leagues are ignoring the science and choosing to coerce and punish unvaccinated players with these restrictions. If they really cared about people’s health they would have daily testing for all."

He added, "But these past 2 years has clearly shown us that this is not about our health, it’s about control over our lives. I won’t stand for that. It’s time to fight for our medical freedom and I feel for those that have been fired for choosing medical freedom. People losing their jobs over a medical choice is un-American and unacceptable. We need to stand up now before it’s too late!!"

In 2021, Underwood faced backlash for liking a tweet about a conservative podcaster who spoke out against mask mandates for Nashville schoolchildren, according to Billboard. The tweet has since been deleted.

Did Carrie Underwood write a song about gun control?

While some fans believe that Underwood's song, "The Bullet," off her 2018 album Cry Pretty, is about gun control, the singer appeared to refute that take during a 2019 interview with The Guardian.

"Immediately people said, ‘Oh you have a song about gun control!’ It was more about the lives that were changed by something terrible happening," she explained. "And it does kind of bug me when people take a song, or take something I said and try to pigeonhole or force me to pick a side or something. It’s a discussion—a long discussion.”

Some of the lyrics of the song include, "You can blame it on hate or blame it on guns / But mamas ain't supposed to bury their sons / Left a hole in her heart and it still ain't done / The bullet keeps on goin'," and, "The grass grows back around the stone / And friends stop checkin' in on the phone / The camera crews have all moved on / But the wound's still open."
