Carrie Underwood Fans Laud Her for Unplanned A Cappella Performance at Donald Trump’s Inauguration
Carrie Underwood’s fans didn’t hold anything back when they shared their reactions on social media to the country music star’s Inauguration Day performance.
On Monday, Jan. 20, the country singer's performance of “America the Beautiful” had a false start due to technical difficulties. When the accompanying music did not play, Underwood sang an a cappella version of the song.
While rocking a neutral-colored sleeveless dress, the 41-year-old crooner gave a flawless performance despite singing without any backing music.

Fans flocked to social media to praise Underwood for keeping cool under pressure.
One X user declared, "Only Carrie Underwood could just wing that."
Another viewer on X agreed, writing, "Carrie Underwood singing a capella and asking everyone to sing with her is a cool moment."
Meanwhile, yet another X user shared, "Carrie Underwood singing acapella was honestly the way to go," as someone else applauded, "Way to improvise Carrie Underwood!!!"
A different X user wrote, "Now that is a flex. Imagine being so talented that when technology fails, you just go, 'Fine, I’ll do it live!' and crush it a cappella in front of thousands. Carrie Underwood doesn’t need auto-tune; auto-tune probably takes notes from her."
Kudos to @carrieunderwood. When the audio for the band failed, she offered an acapella version of America that was beautiful and inspired. Wonderful. pic.twitter.com/rD6O7oNPaj

Underwood was one of many artists slated to perform at Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration following his victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election last November. Trump and his running mate, former Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, each took their oaths of office during a swearing-in ceremony in Washington, D.C., on Monday, Jan. 20.
The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee announced last week that the American Idol Season 4 winner and current judge agreed to perform “America the Beautiful” during the swearing-in ceremony. This year’s ceremony was moved inside the U.S. Capitol Rotunda for the first time in 40 years due to the anticipation of what Trump described as “very cold” weather conditions.
Following Underwood’s appearance, several other artists were expected to perform at additional Inauguration Day events, including Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jason Aldean and Gavin DeGraw.
