Carrie Bickmore shares heartwarming message: ‘Shining star’

TV star Carrie Bickmore has shared an emotional tribute to her beloved mum.

She’s posted sparsely on her Instagram account since quitting her role as host of The Project, however Carrie Bickmore has made an exception when it comes to her beloved mum, uploading a heartwarming tribute to her account.

The 42-year-old posted two stunning pictures of her posing with her mum at the beach, in honour of her mother’s retirement.

“My amazing mama has just retired (I think she’ll back) after 50 years contribution to education. Mum you are a trailblazer, an inspiration, a shining star,” Carrie wrote.

“You did it all while raising kids, living and loving hard and all with a soft touch and huge smile. Enjoy the next chapter…whatever it may hold.”

Carrie’s famous friend and fellow radio and TV host Rove McManus commented saying: “Brava Jennie”.

A whole host of Carrie’s followers also commented telling their own stories of Jennie as a teacher, with one person writing: “I definitely remember being 7 and your Mum taking us to her Uni tutorial because she obviously had to work and you needed entertainment. So you and I made puppets while she taught her class. How the hell she managed a classroom full of adults trying to learn to be teachers and two giggly 7 year old girls. I guess it was a lesson for those aspiring teachers. Awesome work Mrs B.”

Carrie’s post comes after her ex, Chris Walker, seemingly responded to rumours she and her radio co-host Tommy Little are "growing close" after the pair announced their split in January.

Carrie and Chris announced they were splitting up after 11 years in January this year, with the Daily Mail sharing reports she and Tommy may be getting romantically involved after years of working together.

Just days later, Chris surprised his Instagram followers when he shared a strange family photo shoot that Tommy had also taken part in as part of a radio stunt.

In the tongue-in-cheek photo, Carrie's two older children, Ollie and Evie, stand in front of Carrie and Chris, whose hands are on Carrie's baby bump, with Tommy awkwardly standing behind him, holding his behind.

Chris didn't caption the photo and swiftly deleted it just six hours later, with the Herald Sun reporting that while he doesn't believe any rumours about Carrie and Tommy, it's "hurtful" that neither of them have publicly denied them.

Sources close to the TV producer reportedly suggested the post was the result of an "ill-advised joke".

The publication adds that Chris has been "struggling to come to terms with no longer seeing his children every day" following the pair's split.

Carrie announced her split with Chris on Instagram in January, sharing a statement that read: "It's with immense sadness that Chris and I have decided to separate".

"While this is a tough time, our focus is on parenting, loving and supporting our three children Ollie, Evie and Addie with everything we've got. They are doing great."

The announcement came weeks after Carrie signed off from The Project after 13 years on the show.
