Cardi B files for divorce from Offset after three years of marriage

Cardi B has filed for divorce from Offset after nearly three years of marriage.

According to online records viewed by Yahoo Entertainment, the WAP rapper filed paperwork in Fulton County, Georgia on Tuesday — and the split doesn’t appear to be amicable.

The filing states it’s a contested divorce, which means the parties cannot agree on one or more of the issues involved.

Cardi, real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, is listed as the plaintiff while Migos rapper Offset (né Kiari Kendrell Cephus) is listed as the defendant.

Issues could range from custody to property division. The rappers share two-year-old daughter Kulture. A hearing has been set for November 4th.

According to TMZ, which obtained the documents, Cardi is seeking primary physical custody as well as legal custody of Kulture.

The Grammy winner allegedly states the two are currently separated and have no intention of getting back together.

Cardi B and Offset have had a tumultuous relationship throughout the years. In 2017, they said ‘I do’ however, they didn’t actually announce they were married until the following year.

In 2018, Cardi came up against backlash when she decided to stay with Offset after the couple were plagued by cheating rumours.

“When me and my husband got into our issues—you know, he cheated and everything—and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,” Cardi told Vogue last year.

“But it’s real-life shit. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation. Then, if you get back with them, it’s like, how could you? You let all of us down.”

She went on to say that she “believes in forgiveness” and revealed that she and Offset prayed with priests to come to an understanding about their relationship.

“For me, monogamy is the only way. I’ll beat your ass if you cheat on me,” she said.

Cardi also opened up to Cosmopolitan about her relationship issues in February, saying: “It’s like everybody is coming down my neck like, ‘Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem.’ I don’t have low self-esteem … I know I look good. I know I’m rich, I know I’m talented. I know I could get any man I want — any basketball player, football player. But I want to work out my s*** with my man, and I don’t got to explain why.

“I’m not your property. This is my life ... I’m going to take my time, and I’m going to decide on my decision … It’s not right, what he f****g did — but people don’t know what I did, ’cause I ain’t no angel,” she continued.
