Canelo Alvarez and Fernanda Gómez have one child together

Canelo Alvarez is one of the most celebrated boxers around. Often considered the best Mexican fighter ever, he became only the sixth male boxer in history to hold all four titles in the same weight class from all of the major boxing sanctioning bodies in 2021.

Away from sport, Alvarez enjoys golf and riding horses, and spends a lot of time with his family, including his four children. He has three daughters and a son. In a 2021 episode of Red Table Talk: The Estefans, Alvarez discussed raising daughters: “I let [my daughter] paint my nails, put on eyeshadow, she puts bows on me and she makes a mess of it. But what can I do?" he said.

Before he found fame and success as a boxer, he was a young father in his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico, and had to wash cars and sell popsicles to support his eldest daughter, Emily.

He shares his youngest daughter, Maria Fernanda, with his wife, Fernanda Gómez. Gómez, a business owner and model, married Alvarez in 2021. She’s big on social media, with more than 1 million Instagram followers.

She was born in Guadalajara in 1996

According to AS, Gómez was born in 1996 in the Mexican city of Guadalajara, like her husband six years earlier.

She first met Alvarez in 2016

Alvarez and Gómez first met and got together in 2016 and, per AS, attended an OMB gala in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in October.

The following year, they were seen together in the city of Zapopan, near Guadalajara, celebrating Alvarez’s win against Julio César Chavez Jr. in Las Vegas. Though Alvarez and Gómez appeared to go their separate ways for a short while, they reconnected by the end of the year.

She married Alvarez in 2021

Alvarez and Gómez wed on May 15, 2021. The wedding was held in the Guadalajara Cathedral, followed by a party at Rancho Las Reinas.

Famous guests included J Balvin and his partner Valentina Ferrer, Maluma and Jaime Camil, while family members — including the couple’s daughter — also were present.

Before their marriage, Alvarez spoke to ¡Despierta América! and declined to share whether he would be getting married soon. Instead, he teased that fans would soon see if the rumors were true.

She’s a model, businesswoman and influencer

Gómez is a social media influencer, with more than 1 million Instagram followers. On the platform, she often shares selfies, family photos and holiday pictures. She is also a model and has her own business.

She opened the Fernanda Gómez Nailbar & Boutique in Guadalajara, which provides beauty and skincare services and sells women’s clothing.

She shares one daughter with Alvarez

In September 2017, Gómez revealed her pregnancy with a series of photos on Instagram. In January 2018, she announced the December birth of her first baby, daughter Maria Fernanda — Alvarez’s third daughter — with a close-up photo of Maria's tiny foot.

“Almost a month of the most beautiful gift God has given me & life ❤️. I love you my baby Maria Fernanda 👶🏼 🍼,” she captioned the image on Instagram.

Alvarez and Gómez celebrated Maria’s second birthday in December 2019, holding a ballet-themed party complete with a pink cake decorated with ballerinas and a carousel. To celebrate Maria’s third birthday in December 2021, the couple organized a Little Mermaid-themed celebration complete with an appearance from the Disney princess herself.

She enjoys traveling with her husband

Gómez is a keen traveler — in 2019, she went on a trip across Southeast Asia with Alvarez. The couple began their vacation in Singapore, before heading to Thailand and Indonesia.

In May 2022, they visited the Greek island of Mykonos, with Gómez posting photos from their stay on Instagram. Other vacation destinations for the pair include Abu Dhabi, Paris, Croatia and the Maldives.

She supports her husband’s career

Alvarez is a highly decorated boxer, and Gómez frequently attends his matches to support him. On Instagram, she posts photos of herself at the side of the ring to cheer on Alvarez in fights, and also has brought their daughter along to support her dad.

After Alvarez received the second defeat of his professional career (to Dmitry Vibol) in May 2022, Gómez posted a picture of her husband on Instagram, calling him her world champ in the caption and expressing her pride.
