Candice Bergen Suffers Devastating Family Loss
Candice Bergen's husband of over two decades, Marshall Rose, passed away this weekend. He was 88 years old.
Rose died at home on the morning of February 15 from complications associated with Parkinson's Disease, according to an obituary provided by Bergen's rep to Parade. Bergen and Rose would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on June 15, 2025.
Born and raised in New York, Rose was a real estate developer, civic leader, and advisor to non-profit institutions. In 1978, he founded The Georgetown Company, which went on to oversee the development of such noteworthy properties as Frank Gehry’s IAC building and the renovation of Madison Square Garden.
The second half of Rose's career was devoted to civic and philanthropic work in New York City, including the pro bono development of three charter schools and a thirty-year tenure on the board of the New York Public Library.

Rose's obituary called him a "profoundly good man" who "consistently modeled a life worth emulating" as well as a "dedicated father and grandfather" and a "doting dogfather to his beloved goldendoodle Jerry."
"His family carries on his legacy of fierce compassion, stubborn persistence, and commitment to cheering on the Knicks," the obituary continued. "His wisdom, strength, and generosity of spirit will be remembered by the countless people whose lives he touched."
In addition to Bergen, 78, Rose is survived by his children Wendi and Andrew, his step-daughter Chloe, and his grandchildren Alexander, Clio, Ell, Milo, Arthur, and Alice.
In 1995, Bergen lost her first husband, French filmmaker Louis Malle.
