Camila Mendes Dyed Her Signature Brunette Hair to a Flaming Chili Pepper Red
She's looking—and feeling—spicy.
While fall is generally reserved as the time to usher in newer, moodier, updates to hair color, caution can be thrown to the wind entirely if the person is bold. Camila Mendes is proof that colder months doesn't always mean darker tresses, and shared a shocking update to her signature brunette hair in an unexpected way.
The Riverdale actress shared a photoset of mirror selfies—from an airport bathroom, no less—to debut her freshly dyed red hair. Instead of a typical red, the color held a tinge of chili pepper to it, giving it a spicy effect designed to look professionally dyed instead of a natural redhead shade. Mendes wore her new 'do with excitement, smiling for the camera as she played with her loose waves in the pictures.
"Just a newly minted redhead with a flight delay and an empty bathroom all to herself @colorbymattrez," the actress captioned the set of Instagram photos. The colorist, Matt Rez, is experienced when turning stars over to the red side—he's famously responsible for the deep cherry cola red shade that Dua Lipa debuted at the start of her Radical Optimism era, which she wore for its entire duration. He's also recent assisted Khloé Kardashian in going copper red, though the hair was actually a wig that he dyed.
As for people within Mendes's personal circle, Rez is also the hands behind fellow Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart's signature cool blonde shade with root shading. With Mendes's new hair, she can now have twinning moments with Riverdale co-star Madelaine Petsch, who is a natural redhead.
