Camila Cabello's 2024 Met Gala Dress Ripped — and She Handled the Wardrobe Malfunction Like a Total Pro
The singer was photographed heading to an afterparty with a tear in her gown, which was made from 250,000 Swarovski crystals and featured a daring slit!
Camila Cabello wasn't going to let a slight wardrobe malfunction disrupt her 2024 Met Gala moment!
On the Met Gala carpet May 6, the “I Luv It” singer, 27, told outlets that the distressing on her Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown, which was made with 250,000 Swarovski crystals, was inspired by the beauty in “things decaying over time.”
But by the end of the night, Cabello faced a wardrobe malfunction in the form of a large rip down the middle of her gown that wasn’t part of the look at all.
In photos taken of the former Fifth Harmony member on her return from the gala to change for the afterparty, the tear in her dress, which seems to have started at the thigh-high slit, is visible, as is the nude undergarments she wore underneath.

Yet, Cabello recovered from the faux pas like a pro, later blocking any view of the rip with her sparkly gold clutch as she smiled for the cameras.
An eyewitness told Daily Mail that Cabello handled the sartorial slip-up “with ease and just laughed it off,” adding, “She was not going to let anything ruin her night.”
Aside from the staggering number of crystals, Cabello's dress alone weighed 15 pounds and took 450 hours to make.

The dress wasn’t Cabello's only "decaying" style moment of the night.
On the carpet, she carried a custom Jane Wade ice block purse, which held a single rose inside, that had to be stored in a freezer before the reveal.
However, Cabello confirmed on Instagram on May 7 that the accessory was originally meant to be a bag with a chain link strap. But since that melted off, she had to carry the chunk of ice as a clutch that slowly melted in her hands as the night went on. The incident might have been a blunder but, it coincidentally aligned with the story she wanted to tell with her look: that "everything's fleeting.”
