Brooke Blurton on the 'over sexualisation' of the Bachelor mansion

Brooke Blurton has spoken about the ‘over sexualisation’ of the Bachelor mansion, just after it was announced that she will grace our screens as Australia’s next Bachelorette.

The 26-year-old will be the first openly pansexual star of the show, which will see both men and women vie for her heart.

In an interview on the Fitzy & Wippa show, the hosts asked the proud Noongar-Yamatji woman if she’s worried about the contestants hooking up in the mansion when she’s not around.

“I think everyone overly sexualises what it’s like,” Brooke said.

Brooke said she had thought of the prospect of the contestants finding love together in the mansion before she signed up for the show, but it didn’t put her off and she wouldn’t stand in their way.

“It’s like modern dating right, you know when people are dating on websites, on a dating app, you know they’re dating other people,” she said.

“It’s just like the Bachelorette or the Bachelor, you know that they’re dating other people.

“Whether you have an interest in someone in the house and you develop a relationship that you think maybe potentially could work on the outside, good for them, I’m not gonna hold them back. I’m going to be disappointed that I didn’t get to develop a relationship with them and get to know them on that level but love comes in all forms and I’ve just gotta accept it and be like it is what it is.”

In terms of the type of partner Brooke is looking for, she said it doesn’t matter whether they’re male or female, she’s on the hunt for a ‘unicorn’.

“Athletic is my most common denominator,” she said. She’s also looking for someone who takes care of themselves, takes pride in their appearance and is on the same wavelength as her.

In a statement released by Channel 10, Brooke said: “I am so ready for this. I’ve done it twice before and now, having the opportunity to choose my person and who I want in my life, is a truly unique and special experience.

“My perfect person is someone that loves me for me. I hope they offer shared values and compassion for others. All the dreamy things! I’m so excited and hope that I finally find that person I’ve been waiting for.”
