British Actress Miranda Hart Reveals She Just Got Married at 51: 'Thrilled to Be a Young Bride'
"Someone put a ring on it!" the comedian announced on BBC's 'The One Show' on Oct. 8
Miranda Hart is married — and at the “young” age of 51, no less!
The British comedian and actress, best known for her sitcom Miranda, announced the happy news while promoting her upcoming book, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You, on BBC’s The One Show on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
During her appearance on the talk show — which marked her return to TV after about a decade — Hart shared the news by moving a sparkler from her right to her left hand, telling the hosts, “I can now swap this ring to the other side and say, ‘Someone put a ring on it!’ ”
“I’m married! I got married at 51,” the star shared, explaining that she found her real-life Gary Preston — her Miranda character’s love interest, played by Tom Ellis.

“I’d written Gary for on-screen Miranda, and it wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person, and I met him, and it’s a little undercurrent in the book,” she revealed, adding that she’s “not going to reveal how we met — ‘cause that’s a little bit of a twist.”
After host Alex Jones asked if her real-life love’s name is Gary as well, Hart confirmed that it is not. “No, that would be weird,” she said. “Nor is it Tom Ellis.”
Sharing more details about life with her husband, whose identity she did not reveal, Hart said, “He’s my best friend and we have the best fun.”
Plus, she jokingly added, “I’m just thrilled to be a young bride at 51.”

The Miranda star received an outpouring of support after sharing news of her nuptials, and took to Instagram on the way home from her One Show appearance to express her gratitude.
“I just wanted to say thank you so much for the lovely messages about my news,” she said in the clip. “It’s really very touching that you should be happy that I’m happy, and I really, really am.”
“I’ve got my best friend to do life with, and it’s wonderful, and I'm also utterly thrilled to be back in telly land and having a book out, so thanks so much for all your support,” she added before revealing that her beau was just off-screen as she filmed.
With a quick high five with her husband (prompting her to joke “Ho ho, exclusive — his hand”) the comedian ended the clip, “Bye, thanks again!”
